Whatever Happened to The Liberty Tree? - Classroom Project

...A hands-on program for grade and middle school children.

CLICK HERE for a brochure which describes the project.

The Liberty Tree lives in American history and now your students can take an active role in the rebirth of the Liberty Tree.  It can be a focus of patriotic inspiration, a familiar landmark, a green and growing tribute to the birth of freedom. It will also be a continuation of the effort you have already started to re-elm Southfield.

Students will learn about the “Stamp Act” , the Loyal 9, and our country’s freedom. Each program receives their own “Liberty Tree”, to plant in the school yard or in a public place in their town.

As part of the program, teachers will receive a “Liberty Tree” kit ($85) which includes “Whatever Happened to the Liberty Tree?”: a booklet complete with activity guide, vocabulary list and a brochure on how students can plan a Liberty Tree Memorial.  In addition, they will receive a 2- 3 ft. disease-resistant American Liberty Elm to grow in the classroom. A 5” x 5” plaque will be custom engraved with the school or class information noting that students have taken part in a national effort to restore the American elm.

Since 1984, over 300,000 Liberty Elms have been planted, many by students. With your help we can plant more and teach children about our country’s freedom.

The Project fee of $85 includes the a "Liberty Tree Kit" containing the following items:

1. (1) 3ft American Liberty Elm...ready-to-plant
2. (1) Personalized Bronze Member's Donor Plaque...mount outside with tree
3. (1) "Whatever Happened to th Liberty Tree" Booklet
